Children of Morta is a fantasy hack-n-slash diablo-ish rogue-lite dungeon crawler arpg that’s sporting a beautiful hand-made pixel art style. Unlike others in the same genre, the game’s less about loot/gear & more about gold, upgrades & level-ups. It’s also about family. You play as your choice of several playable characters, 6 members of the Bergson family that’ll be unlocked as you progress through the story. Each Bergson has their own “class” essentially, w/ their own weapon, unique actives & passives as well as “family traits,” passives that apply to the whole family once unlocked.
Game play varies between each family member, starting w/ a sword-n-board dad, his archer daughter & roguish dual-dagger wielding son, as well as others I haven’t unlocked at this point… But you’ll be moving through semi-randomly generated levels, collecting gold, xp & artifacts until you either defeat the boss or die. You then spend your loot on upgrades at grampa’s forge or magic w/ grandma’s spell book.
